According to the World Health Organization, health is “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. Another perspective of health might be that it involves the state of achieving and maintaining homeostasis or balance on the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical plane, the absence of which ultimately results in dis-ease.

At Doctors’ Choice Nutrition, Dr. Reid teaches her patients how to accomplish this level of homeostasis by addressing elements which affect it, namely the body’s concentration of residual metabolic wastes, tissue oxygenation, alkaline versus acidic environment, and the concentration of salts and electrolytes.

Additionally, Dr. Reaid addresses the various elements which contribute to illness such as: organic deterioration (eg. Heart failure), obstruction (eg. Blocked arteries due to plaque accumulation), injury (eg. Broken bones, imbalance (eg. Excess or insufficient hormones), malnutrition (eg.
