Naturopathic Spinal Adjustments
Naturopathic Physicians as well as chiropractors, are licensed in British Columbia to use spinal manipulations (adjustments) within their scope of practice. This treatment involves locating, diagnosing and correcting joint and associated muscular dysfunction. These joint disturbances are called subluxations or fixations, which indicates locking, or misalignment of spinal or extremity joints. Subluxations can result in abnormal joint movement and be a cause of pain. The treatment involves the gentle re-setting of the joint restriction by adjustment. The adjustment may cause a clicking sound, or may be a gentle low force maneuver, which is barely felt. There are a great variety of techniques available to best address your needs.

Herbal Medicine
Herbal Medicine, also known as Herbalism, is a traditional medicinal or folk medicine practice based on the use of plants and plant extracts. Herbalism is also known as botanical medicine, medicinal botany, medical herbalism, herbal medicine, herbology, and phytotherapy. Sometimes the scope of herbal medicine is extended to include fungi and bee products, as well as minerals, shells and certain animal parts.

Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine first defined by Samuel Hahnemann in the 18th century. Homeopathic practitioners contend that remedies for diseases can be created by ingesting substances that can produce, in a healthy person, symptoms similar to those of the disease. According to homeopaths, serial dilution, with shaking between each dilution, removes any negative effects of the remedy while the qualities of the substance are retained by the diluent (water, sugar, or alcohol). The end product is often so diluted that it is indistinguishable from pure water, sugar or alcohol by laboratory tests but is still claimed to have an effect on consumers. Practitioners select treatments according to a patient consultation that explores the physical and psychological state of the patient, both of which are considered important to selecting the remedy.

Clinical Nutrition
Clinical Nutrition has its roots steeped in natural medicine; Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine said, "Let Food be Thy Medicine and Medicine be Thy Food". Clinical Nutrition applies the concepts of using everyday foods functionally to treat various clinical conditions. For example, turmeric is used for its anti-inflammatory and detoxification purposes. Clinical Nutrition also applies to the idea of eating low glycemic index foods for the management of diabetes and cold water fish for cardiovascular disease and mood disorders.

Traditional Chinese Medicine
Traditional Chinese Medicine is considered a Complementary or Alternative Medical system in most of the world. It includes a range of traditional medical practices originating in China that developed over several hundred thousand years. TCM theory asserts that processes of the human body are interrelated and in constant interaction with the environment. TCM practitioners believe signs of disharmony help them to understand, treat and prevent illness and disease.

Massage Therapy
Massage is the treatment and practice of manipulation of the soft body tissues with physical, functional, i.e. mechanical, medical/therapeutic, and in some cases psychological purposes and goals. Massage involves acting and manipulating the patient's body with pressure (structured, unstructured, stationary, and/or moving), tension, motion, or vibration done manually or with mechanical aids. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, and/or organs of the gastrointestinal system.

Intravenous Therapy
Intravenous delivery of nutrients is an excellent method to provide the body with therapeutic and nutritional agents. When we ingest nutritive supplements in the form of tinctures, pills or capsules, much is lost in the digestive process. When specially prepared nutrients are injected intravenously, they bypass the liver and digestive organs and are available directly through the circulation to the tissues and cells of the body. In chronic and depleted conditions, and where the digestive functions are often compromised, large doses of nutrients call be delivered comfortably and safely as part of an integrated naturopathic treatment program. In acute infections, smaller I.V. doses can be used to enhance immune function.

Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy involves the use of water for soothing pains and treating diseases. Its use has been recorded in ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. Egyptian royalty bathed with essential oils and flowers, while Romans had communal public baths for their citizens. It has been long accepted that hot water springs can improve health by increasing circulation. Thousands of years of treatments have built an enormous amount of expertise but the alleged benefits had little supporting evidence from science until approximately 30 years ago.

Acupuncture Therapy
Acupuncture developed over a 3,000 year period, as practitioners observed the effects of needling different points on the body. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theorizes that there are more than 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body, and that these connect through 12 main and 8 secondary pathways called meridians. These meridians conduct energy, or chi (pronounced "chee"), throughout the body. Chi is believed to regulate spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical balance and to be influenced by the opposing forces of yin and yang. According to TCM, when yin and yang are balanced, they work together with the natural flow of chi to help the body achieve and maintain health. Acupuncture balances yin and yang, keeps the normal flow of chi energy unblocked, and restores health to the body and mind.
